Young Children's Issues Forum
Fifth Annual Young Children’s Issues Forum 2008
The Young Children's Issues Forum is an annual community event sponsored and organized by the Contra Costa Local Planning Council for Child Care and Development (LPC). The purpose of the event is to provide a forum for open dialogue and conversation between legislators, local officials and the community regarding current children's issues.
The Young Children's Issues Forum is a no cost event and is open to the public. The Local Planning Council for Child Care and Development strives to encourage and foster parent participation as well as participation of all child care providers in the county including private and state funded centers and family child care providers.
Historically, the majority of the event attendees are childcare providers, preschool teachers, program administrators, community college faculty and representatives from community agencies. Resources, services and other information related to childcare and education is available at the event.
The format of the event is semi-casual, inviting and conducive of conversation and networking. A panel of legislators, local officials and guest presenters share their views on children's issues. The audience is given an opportunity to ask questions directly to the panel by microphone or by submitting a question in writing. Input cards are distributed at the entrance and are available to the public for submittal of questions and comments.
For more information about the annual Young Children's Issues Forum, please contact the Contra Costa Local Planning Council for Child Care and Development Coordinator Ruth Fernández at (925) 942-3413. Registration is not required to attend this event.
